Study shows just how many grandparents are caring for grandkids

Previously our blog has discussed how the number of grandparents here in the U.S. who are acting as the primary caregivers for their grandchildren has climbed steadily over the last few years. Indeed, statistics show that roughly 2.6 million children are currently living in homes where they are being raised solely by their grandparents.

Asserting parental rights can be a struggle for divorced fathers

It has long been true that many men who attempt to gain at least shared custody of their children have a difficult time doing so. The idea that children are better off raised by their mother instead of their father is an old, yet pervasive, one. It used to be that a father seeking sole custody of his children in a divorce case, for example, might practically be laughed out of the courtroom.

Will same-sex divorce be permitted in Texas?

Back in 2005, 76 percent of voters approved amendments to the Texas Constitution and the Texas Family Code banning same-sex marriage. Since that time, however, the legal landscape has changed considerably on this issue thanks to two influential decisions by the Supreme Court of the United States.
